Acceptance Criteria

Artist’s work, booth design and application information will be juried based on quality, authenticity, uniqueness, salability, booth presentation and overall balance of show categories. To be accepted, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be the artist/designer of your work
  • You must be the original creator/assembler/producer/maker of your work
  • You must understand and have mastered the craft process needed to make your work
  • You must be intimately involved in the production process from start to finish
  • You must create/produce your work in the country in which you reside
  • Artists may have limited assistants/apprentices as long as the original artist is on-site and involved in the production as stated above
  • Reproduction aids such as molds used in jewelry or ceramics must be created by the applying artist
  • For photographers only: original photographs should make up most of the artist’s display
  • For fine artists: signed and numbered limited editions will be permitted

Emerging Artist Program
The One of a Kind Spring Show will be including emerging artists in the 2019 show. The designated spaces will be dedicated to talented up and coming artists, designers and makers.

Event Summary:
The One of a Kind Spring Show is a 3-day show featuring fine art and craft from a juried selection of talented artists that is held at Chicago's Mart. We invite artists, designers and makers with high quality, handmade, original work to apply to be a part of the One of a Kind Spring experience!

Applicants will be juried and chosen based on uniqueness, craftsmanship and attention to detail. Eligible work ranges from giftable craft to premium fine art.

  • Featuring approximately 300 artists, designers and makers

  • Over 35,000 shoppers attended the 2018 show
  • Held in a premium indoor environment with all inclusive hard wall booth package in the heart of downtown Chicago

October 10, 2018 Deadline to apply (for early jury)
October 11, 2018 Jury selection (for early jury)
October 24, 2018 Jury notifications (for early jury) status emailed (accepted, wait-listed, declined)
October 30, 2018 Invited artists must "accept" through Zapp by this date
November 5, 2018 Deadline for submitting contracts (for early jury) with payment to ensure participation
November 6, 2018 Application for late jury goes live.
February 2019 Booth assignments/show information emailed to artists from the early jury
February 5, 2019 Deadline to apply (for late jury)
February 6, 2019 Jury selection (for late jury)
February 11, 2019 Notification (from late jury) of participation status emailed
February 18, 2019 Invited artists must "accept" through Zapp by this date
February 25, 2019 Contract link will be emailed to artists (completion of contract is needed for participation)
March 1, 2019 (Late jury applicants only) deadline for submitting online contracts with payment
March (mid) 2019 Booth assignments/show information emailed to artists from the late jury
April 3, 2019 Deadline for pre-show discount on operational needs
April 24-25, 2019 Artist move work into the building through loading dock and start setting-up
April 26, 2018 One of a Kind Spring Show opens

Application Process

Applications are now available via Zapplication. To be considered, you will be asked to do the following:

  • Create an online artist profile
  • Prepare and upload 5 digital images in total:
    • 3 images of your work
    • 1 image of your studio/workspace
    • 1 image of your booth/display
  • Submit a $35 USD non-refundable application fee

Online Application Process:
For an additional fee, one of our preferred professional photographers will update, digitized and format photos (or slides) for your One of a Kind application through Zapplication. Please contact either of them directly at:

Jury Notification:
Notification of your jury status will be emailed to you on October 17 and posted on your profile through Zapplication. Please do not call.

Accepted artists will receive an acceptance email including a contract, booth payment schedule and additional show information via email. After receiving your acceptance notification, a 50% deposit is due with the contract by November 1. In special situations, payment plans can be arranged.
