Handmade pieces of wearable art

Brooklyn, New York

During my childhood my father was assigned to work in a small town in the central rainforest of Peru. My first 9 years of life I was exposed to this spectacular world of vibrant colors, patterns and shapes of an incredible energy. Later on when I was in my late teens we moved to New York City. These two apparently opposite worlds have defined my artistic eye.

I found my love for jewelry in my late twenties while I was traveling through Central America. I met an Italian goldsmith in Guatemala and I was immediately fascinated by the craftsmanship. I began my training at Escola Massana in Barcelona Spain and later moved to Mexico to continue my training in goldsmithing and incorporating the beautiful technique of repousse Chasing.

The city and nature coexist in my head to bring me inspiration. Normally I immerse myself in the natural world through observation and study. I have an interesting collection of books of nature like Ernst Haeckel, that help me a lot to create an image, play with shapes and inspire a form. Or a walk in a beautiful forest, admiring plants, patterns of nature, such as watching rippling water. All of that and more are part of a pool of endless inspiration for me.

The other side, my day-to-day city life, also becomes expressed in my designs. The energy, the colors, the lines, the sharp forms emerge and take part. New York is a city with undeniable and incredible energy; an endless awakening to the senses. My work, my vision, how I see beauty is in this sweet space of constant interplay of between worlds. I feel my pieces are graceful but also strong. They strike a delicate balance between these two views.
