Handcarved home decor handmade goatsmilk soap
Gowing up out west I had some older reletives who did some amazing wood carvings When I was about 19 years old (abot 30 years ago). I was curious to try it out for fun. So started with some sharp knives, chissels, Bass wood (very soft wood, easy to carve) And the help of my relatives.

After some time I was carving small figurines. I was told they were pretty good”. Plus I really enjoyed the peace of mind making them.

Throughout my travels in life, I’ve been fortunate to meet and learn from a handfull of amzing wood carvers. Everyone of them had there own special gift.

It wasn’t till about 2007 when I began to dedicate more of my time to something I really had fun and enjoyed doing.

I was introduced to a very unique way of carving By a close friend of mine a mentor of some sorts. It was working with the root system, the burls, and stumps of exotic woods (Acacia wood, Teak Wood, Juniper, Diamond Willow, Iron Wood Etc). ” I was all in”.

This technique consists of letting the wood guide you, and letting the wood be what it wants to be. More interesting every piece had its own beautiful characteristics and were all One Of A Kind.

Since then I try to make functional wood carvings. Something that is natural, beautiful, unique and practical. Something you cannot just admire but also use.

I still go back once in a while to some of my favorite and hardest to make pieces (Animal Figures).

But thanks to power tools, My work is a little easier. Know I use mostly power tools, Routers, Grinders, Chissels,Dremels, Sanders Etc.

I Dont limit myself to the woods I use, But I prefer to use the most odd pieces with the most unique character.

O yea” Its still fun and I’m still learning.
