Fluent in Cement”

To be fluent, both your voice and your material must merge, a bond that is not necessarily immediate, but more a journey of experimentation with many painting methods and products.

My background in Interior Design and Color Psychology has helped me find my way to concrete. Through Architectural Color Consulting, I acquired a comprehensive knowledge of color mixing and balancing color and a diverse understanding of industry products. It has shaped me to be a colorist along with the desire to create art that is both textural and unique.

Eventually this union of voice and material yields an eloquent and distinct style.

Concrete has always intrigued me. With characteristics similar to fired clay, I use it in a painterly way. Preparing my own mixes, I combine cement with plaster and dried pigments giving my completed works a sculptural dimension.

All my art is painted on a wood panel which is overlayed with a thin layer of cement. The porous surface also allows me to create unusual markings and to build up texture. I paint both abstract dimensional art which is more architectural and figurative art.

My art has been featured in many publications such as Luxe Magazine, Arizona, Western art and architecture, Phoenix home and garden. Collections include many AC Marriotts all over the country and many more corporation throughout the US. I reside in Fountain Hills Arizona
