Emma Lyons Art

Dopamine Decor: Colorful, Encouraging Art

Chicago, Illinois

emmalyonsart.com

The ultimate Dopamine Decor, Emma’s Abstracture style combines bold colorful strokes with geometric placement, sometimes combined with figurative art. These paintings invoke themes of self esteem, authenticity, and acceptance.

A self-trained artist, Emma has hosted five solo shows, curated two group shows, and her work has been shared in a number of exhibitions. Clients include Prada, InterContinental Hotel, and Chicago Shakespeare Theater, and collectors range from local Chicago to global South Korea.

My style explores the idea of feeling allowed to take up space. So often we are told that we need to fit in. Here, I welcome you as you are. I encourage you to love your rich, colorful, beautifully imperfect self. You are a Work of Art.”

Art lovers and collectors can find her work on her online gallery at EmmaLyonsArt.com, in person at various art fairs throughout Chicago, and on social medias all under @EmmaLyonsArt.

    Beyond the Horizon

    $2,000

    View details
Original Painting 24″ x 48″ Acrylic on Canvas About this piece: The waves begin to rage, the clouds kiss the vibrant horizon they hide, the lights and shadows reveal the horizon that we wait on. That we reach for in our resilience amidst the chaos of a coming storm. Or is the storm leaving, the clouds beginning to part? Perhaps you’re closer to the horizon than you originally thought. Take courage in the turbulence. You can still find peace when you can’t find calm in the ever-changing seas of your journey.

    Gilded

    $6,000

    View details
30” x 40” original abstracture and figurative acrylic on canvas. High texture and real gold leaf elevate this painting. About this piece: She is more than beautiful. Read it again: She is more. Than beautiful. Historically, women have been the anonymous subjects of paintings rather than the renowned masters of them. Pretty becomes a consolation prize in this sense, ignoring hopes, dreams, flaws, sharp edges, victories, and journeys of very real people. Women inspire me. But I do not paint them for their loveliness as much as for their stories. Women cannot be restricted to the role of muse when we have so much more to offer than sitting prettily in a gilded cage. If you find yourself in a place where you are not fully accepted for all of you, I encourage you to bravely step out of your cage.

    Air and Water Show

    $1,500

    View details
30” x 40” original mixed media figure drawings collage on wood panel, soon to be in floating black frame. About this piece: From highest highs to the deepest depths, it’s so easy to find beauty. We look up to the aerialist dancers who hold themselves onto silks with such grace and strength, and we look down to find sea animals doing a dance of their own, swimming around each other in playful joy and sweet solidarity. It’s all around us, isn’t it? This is also a subtle nod to the stunning Chicago we live in. The four red silks against the blue of the water signify the city’s flag, and the title, while appropriate for the subject, is one of the most signature summer attractions Chicago has to offer.
