Elisabeth Abel Glass
Kiln formed glass art
Elisabeth Abel is a glass artist — but not in the traditional or most familiar sense. Instead she uses glass panels on which she paints with powders, frits and enamels that are fired at differing heats in her kilns to produce textured and emotive art pieces often been described by the viewers as watercolors in glass. Working from her studio in western Colorado where she is surrounded by the beauty of creation inspires her to create works that feature the colors, shapes and stories of these landscapes and the people and creatures that live in, play in and interact with them. Some of Her pieces display the movement of the dance from the wildflowers swaying in the wind and the fish jumping from the current to the same movement echoed in the waltz and the tango. Others celebrate the quiet moments of this life that bring us peace and hope. Elisabeth has worked in the medium since 2009 and has won the Peoples Choice award at the Las Vegas Glass Expo. Her work is in collections throughout the United States.
