Whimsical oil paintings and prints
R. L. Alexander draws inspiration from both the present and the distant past. Equipped with a sketchbook, he diligently records his thoughts, images, and ideas. These sketches transform into paintings through the application of traditional oil painting techniques using the finest oil paints on wood panels.
Alexander’s paintings are housed in private and public collections across America, Europe, Mauritius, and Japan. His work aims to provoke thought and evoke a sense of whimsy, captivating those who cherish imagination and craftsmanship. Alexander aspires for his paintings to be accessible yet enigmatic, rewarding individuals who invest time in observing and contemplating them.
Alexander spends most of his time with his head in the clouds in his studio in Celebration, Florida, with his long-suffering wife, Becky; their son, Niko; their Italian Greyhounds, Beppo and Botticelli; and their nemesis, Gelatto, the Bengal cat.
