Anton Yakushev is an artist and metal sculptor, lives and works in Bend, OR. Being invited by museums and art schools Anton also conducts educational programs on metal sculpture in the United States and internationally. Anton’s been working with art metal for more than 19 years, his art work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally all over the world.

Anton creates metal sculptures and works of art of varying themes and dimensions, each hand crafted with extraordinary attention to detail. Every intricate piece is hand forged from bare metal, no casting involved. Made from steel with occasional accents of copper and bronze, and finished with a unique patina designed exclusively for that piece. Works include sculptural, art in functional forms, jewelry art pieces, series of compositions, etc. It differs from all metal sculpture and jewelry that all the pieces in each artwork are hand-forged individually and then assembled together in an extremely sophisticated form with incredible for metal movement, flow and vividness, usually each sculpture contains of more than 100 hand-hammered pieces.

A series of Anton’s artworks were selected for the international scientific research project Musée Imaginaire by Mihail Chemiakine. Anthology of forms — Bandaged figure in art”, Mihail Chemiakine is a world-class artist whose works are in collection of Metropolitan Museum in NYC. Since 2019 his artwork Katydid” was chosen for the permanent collection at the National Ornamental Metal Museum in Memphis, TN where he was invited to teach. The 10 feet tall Eagle” sculpture was installed as part of the permanent exterior collection of the High Desert Museum in Bend, OR in 2024.

Anton creates the only hand-forged in fire sculptural art jewelry with elegant combination of disparate materials as stainless steel and diamonds in organic forms. Each piece is artist’s unique wearable sculpture. Different from all as all parts in each jewelry piece is made by hand-forging and blacksmithing. During his university study with a focus on fine arts, metal art and creating in this medium led Anton to invent his own techniques and creative approaches to this sculptural medium. Being a sculptor and showing art in wearable form as jewelry he uses traditional hand-forging techniques in conjunction with industrial forging tools and equipment to link the history of the blacksmith’s craft with a contemporary approach to thinking, design, and action. What started as a fascination with flora and fauna evolved Anton into an exploration of their narrative qualities and representational nature through the use of metal. Anton pushes the limits, while using steel to capture nature, birth and death through a detailed process involving hand-forging methods.
