Get to Know... Steve Christena

10 . 30 . 2017

Arc Academy produces modern metal work focused on Midwest iconography and industrial roots.

One of a Kind:  Describe your work.

Steve: Our furniture and home decor incorporates accented hardwoods and a wide variety of patina-ed metals utilizing acid flash rusting to chemical colorization. Although they appear to be similar, each piece is custom made with an emphasis on individuality.

One of a Kind:  How did you get started?

Steve:  In 1994 at Western Michigan University, I took my first class in metal sculpture. I've been hooked ever since.

One of a Kind:  If you weren't an artist, what would you be?

I have a knack for math and science so most probably an engineer. More than likely something that would have to do with the cosmos. On the wishful thinking side of that question, working for NASA.

One of a Kind:  What inspires you?

Steve:  I will always be inspired by the people I love, family and friends. I'm also inspired by nature and this amazing universe we live in.

This is Steve's first time exhibiting at the One of a Kind Show. Find out more about his company Arc Academy and visit him at the show this December.
