Abstract Portraiture and Figurative artist painting oil on canvas. My art captures abstract interpretations of faces, figures, personalities and emotions. I conjure up arousing expressions and intriguing forms that come to life through heavily juxtaposed layers of oil. My paintings create an emotional resonance.
Each painting sets me on course for a whimsical journey of inner discovery. It’s next to impossible to set any course with a destination in mind. Strangely enough, I am just a deck hand, not the captain. Am I a vessel? Feels that way, but from where and for whom?
My process incorporates palette and taping knives, homemade metal applicators, razor blades, chip brushes and my bare hands to achieve a 3 dimensional ensemble of heavily layered oil colors. All original paintings come complete with black wood frames that I hand craft and assemble personally in my art studio/wood shop.
