Laurel Karnecki

Laurel trained at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts, San Francisco, CA in 2004. Her connection with the process was swift, the practice seemed natural and intuitive. From there she fine tuned her craft working in fine jewelry, setting diamonds and carrying out repair in a traditional jewelry store. In 2008 she secured what seemed to be the dream job: Design Assistant, for a jeweler in NYC. This was a tremendous opportunity and priceless learning experience, but the dream was evolving and the desire to develop her own work could not be overlooked. In 2009 Laurel's Bench was created. Using recycled metals, untreated stones and other natural materials, Laurel hand builds each piece as a wearable work of art. Simple metal frames compliment the stones, often being cradled by chain in her signature “path setting™”. Laurel pays careful attention to detail and regularly creates unique interest with her “suspension” chain-work and shaded patinas. During a decade of travel and exploration she has lived coast to coast and in-between, finally ending in Indiana. She currently lives with her husband and their two children in South Bend, where she is able to spend much of her time creating new work.
