Inhabit Concrete Design

My entire process is hand-crafted which starts by foraging for bark from fallen trees in the upper Midwest; creating rubber molds; mixing a lightweight glass-fiber reinforced concrete (G-FRC); casting applications, demolding, refinements, pigment washes and finally sealing the surface. Creating with G-FRC allows my work to be structurally sound and very strong once cured. This material is relatively light, its not your sidewalk concrete. Uniting my love of nature and a lifelong dedication to creating good design, its exciting to work with a vast assortment of rich textures and shapes. As a whole my work is reflective of an innovative approach to Biophilic design. Replicating organic designs exposes the delicate flora found in nature which is one of many Biophilic patterns. Research shows when unique pieces of nature are brought into a built environment, it creates a sense of calm and well being.
