Caitlin Yarbro Paper Art

I am a collage artist with a primary focus in paper collage. I like to describe my work as small batch, whimsical, and nostalgic. I am forever inspired by my children, emotion, and my own childhood experiences. Cutting paper and composing is meditative for me. I use found images, mixed media elements & warm color palettes. Because I am a stationery enthusiast, you will find both collage note cards and stickers within my offerings as well. Establishing Caitlin Yarbro Paper Art was not always my goal. Initially, my art was something I kept for myself and/or used as a form of coping. I would mail friends mini collage pieces or handmade works, especially when Covid hit in 2020. I have a deep love for paper- its texture, its weight, make-up. I get happy when finding just the right paper texture in a book I am reading. Or filled with excitement when I open up a new paper parcel order. It can all sound so simple, but finding meaning in the handmade life has been a working goal of mine. I started sharing my work and eventually selling about two years ago. It was with handmade markets that I began meeting other makers who share the same interests as me. Connecting with others fills me up. Prior to my art business, I worked as an addiction counselor for nine years. I would often find myself using art with clients, especially when helping them gain insight into behaviors and emotions. Art is healing for so many, which is why you can typically find hints of my mental health advocacy in my work. When I am not creating, you can find me hanging out with my three boys, husband, and our two dogs in Rockford, IL. I am always on the hunt for a good stationery shop and will never turn down a coffee. I have so many dreams and hopes for this small art business of mine and I cannot wait to continue working on them.
