I am at heart a painter, using kiln-fired enamels and glass as my medium to create luminous and textured paintings that, unlike most art, invites the viewer to touch. Please do. Laurel was the weird kid who passionately waxed on about the breathtaking beauty of a bug. A dead tree. The glittering diamonds in the snow on a bright winter morning. What was weird then has become her superpower. Laurel goes beyond looking, delving into the why of what took her breath away. Now as an artist, she can share what she sees so that others can appreciate subtle beauty too. Laurel Grey merges traditional and contemporary glass painting techniques unconventionally. Her canvases are recycled window glass as well as stained and textured glass. Incorporating mixed media such as crushed glass, driftwood, stones, bark, and even tin printing plates into her work makes it even more distinctive. Laurel has studied with world renown artists through in-person classes and online tutorials. She has had a month-long exhibit at The Pump House in La Crosse, Wisconsin and won numerous awards at juried art festivals in the Midwest, including Best of Show at the prestigious Festival of the Arts show in Wausau, Wisconsin. Her work is sold in galleries throughout the US and in Door County, Wisconsin, where she now resides.
