Acceptance Criteria

Artist’s work, booth design and application information will be juried based on quality, authenticity, uniqueness, salability, booth presentation and overall balance of show categories. To be accepted, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be the artist/designer of your work
  • You must be the original creator/assembler/producer/maker of your work
  • You must understand and have mastered the craft process needed to make your work
  • You must be intimately involved in the production process from start to finish
  • You must create/produce your work in the country in which you reside
  • Artists may have limited assistants/apprentices as long as the original artist is on-site and involved in the production as stated above
  • Reproduction aids such as molds used in jewelry or ceramics must be created by the applying artist
  • For photographers only: original photographs should make up most of the artist’s display
  • For fine artists: signed and numbered limited editions will be permitted

Event Summary:
After a successful Spring 2016 launch and 15 years of celebrating artists and their handmade work during the Holiday season, we are thrilled to bring the second edition of the One of a Kind Spring Show. This 3-day show featuring fine art and craft from a juried selection of talented artists will run at Chicago's Mart.

The One of a Kind Show invites artists, designers and makers with high quality, handmade, original work to apply to be part of the One of a Kind Spring experience in Chicago! Eligible work ranges from giftable craft to premium fine art. Applicants will be juried and chosen based on uniqueness, craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Show Facts:

  • Featuring approximately 300 artists, designers and makers
  • Show promotion to our database of over 200,000
  • Held in a premium indoor environment with all inclusive hard wall booth package in the heart of downtown Chicago
  • Show will feature special events and sections

October 10, 2016 Deadline extended through the weekend (for early jury)

October 18, 2016 Notifications (for early jury) of participation status emailed (accepted, wait-listed, declined)
November 3, 2016 Deadline for submitting contracts (for early jury) with payment to ensure participation
February 2017 Booth assignments/show information emailed to artists from the early jury
February 7, 2017 Deadline to apply (for late jury)
February 14, 2017 Jury selection (for late jury)
February 21, 2017 Notification (from late jury) of participation status emailed (accepted, wait-listed, declined)
March 1, 2017 Deadline for submitting contracts (for late jury) with payment to ensure participation
March 15, 2017 Booth assignments/show information emailed to artists from the late jury
March 28, 2017 Deadline for pre-show discount on operational needs
April 26, 2017 Artist move work into the building through loading dock and start setting-up
April 26-27, 2017 Artist Set-up
April 28, 2017 One of a Kind Spring Show opens

Application Process

Applications will be available via Zapplication mid-May. To be considered, you will be asked to do the following:

  • Create an online artist profile
  • Prepare and upload 5 digital images in total:
    • 3 images of your work
    • 1 image of your studio/workspace
    • 1 image of your booth/display
  • Submit a $35 USD non-refundable application fee

Online Application Process:
For an additional fee, one of our preferred professional photographers will update, digitalize and format photos (or slides) for your One of a Kind application through Zapplication. Please contact either of them directly at:

Jury Notification:
Notification of your jury status will be emailed to you on February 21 and posted on your profile through Zapplication. Please do not call.

Accepted artists will receive an acceptance email including a contract, booth payment schedule and additional show information via email. A 50% deposit is due with the contract no later than 2 weeks after receiving your acceptance notification (exact date will be included in your acceptance email). In special situations, payment plans can be arranged.
