Kathleen Rietz, Artist

Kathleen Rietz is a mixed media artist and educator. Her abstract and floral themed paintings are the culmination of her inward responses to the colors, light, shapes, textures and sensations she experiences in nature. A lifelong native of the Midwest, she considers her paintings to be a memoir of her explorations of the ever-changing landscape and seasons, attempting to convey her emotional reactions on canvas quickly before inspiration passes. With a background in commercial art and design that spanned nearly 3 decades, Kathleen Rietz made the transition into fine art as a full time career in 2017. Since beginning her fine art practice, Kathleen’s work is collected both nationally and internationally, and she has been featured in publications such as Create Magazine and International Artist. Kathleen enjoys teaching others to build their own art practices as a way of self discovery and adding joy to their lives. Kathleen resides and works in the Chicago area with her artist husband, Kevin Lahvic.
