Kara Volle is a multidisciplinary artist located in Chicago, IL and originally from St. Louis, MO. From a young age she displayed an interest and affinity for both painting and photography. Aside from drawing and painting classes in high school and some online workshops, Kara is entirely self-taught.
Previously painting exclusively in acrylics, in 2024 she began experimenting with digital painting as a way to explore a new style of creation. She draws and paints each work by hand digitally on her Wacom display, blending the initial sketch and layers of paint as she would on canvas. Each digital painting is printed on archival canvas as a one-of-one original, and then in limited quantities on fine art paper as prints.
Being vegan and an environmentalist influences her work as she explores our human impact on the planet and also relationships with other species. Kara strives to bring her audience in with playful colors, humor, and emotive subjects, while calling the viewer to consider a new perspective on the subject. She does not use any AI in her work.
