Jewelry, New to One of a Kind, Woman-Owned
Cindy's Stitches and Sterling
Handmade jewelry made from copper and silver
I make jewelry of vitreous glass enamel melted onto copper or silver for the contemporary woman. The process involves a design including multiple firings of sifted or wet packed glass onto metal followed by careful application of enamel paints, beads, stenciled elements or bits of fine silver wire or foils. I create a handmade base of chain or braids from metal, fiber, beads, or stone to complement the enamel and silver jewelry.
I’m a retired massage and occupational therapist who has always been making fine crafts in her spare time. My interest in enameling began when my parents bought me a little kiln. I made jewelry on a card table! Many years and many crafts later, I took up metalsmithing and reacquainted myself with enameling. Ive been enthralled with it ever since. Now I teach enameling and Kumihimo braiding at the Lillstreet Art Center. I look forward to sharing my excitement for making jewelry with you.
