Bryan Kosciolek is an artist living in Chicago, Illinois. Kosciolek graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan (illustration focus). The majority of his work explores open-air painting with watercolor and gouache while traveling and camping along Lake Michigan. This practice allows the artist to disconnect from society and focus on his painting practice in isolated areas of the country. Additionally, Kosciolek does create in the studio. Many of these projects take influence from natural science illustrations that the viewer could find in a biology textbook. Additionally, the framed works at this show are upcycled from local thrift stores here in Chicago. The artist is actively trying to minimize trees being cut down for the sake of his art practice.
