My introduction to woodworking began at Lane Tech High School in the early 1980s and my skills were honed under the patient direction of Gary Fusco who owned a small custom cabinet shop on Chicago's north side. My work ethic was shaped by my grandparents who taught me the value of hard work and dedication from an early age as they toiled on their farm over the years. Through their example, they influenced me to use my talents to demonstrate appreciation to those that have graciously helped me to improve my life. I passed this mindset on to my three children and we honor my grandparent's legacy, by holding sacred the land that they left behind! We harvest trees that have fallen or are about to fall and spend countless hours each autumn re-planting hardwood saplings throughout the acreage. We take such great care because we view this land, not as a gift from the past, but as something borrowed from our future! For many years I have harvested, milled, and dried the wood from the trees that the land has provided and then used the wood to make furnishings and accents for my family and friends. The question I get consistently is Why don't you sell your products? Please visit my booth (6109) and website (www.BogieDesigns.com) to see the wood designs that I have created to honor my grandparent's legacy. These designs are influenced by my past with a respectful eye to the resources of the future. Each tree that the land provides is unique and each board is carefully and respectfully transformed into an artifact similar to the ones presented in my website gallery.
