Hardwood Music Company makes handcrafted musical instruments and furniture from exotic hardwoods. Family owned and operated, we share a profound love of music, appreciation for nature, and passion for wood. Our motto\: You don’t have to be a musician to make beautiful music, is a nod to the MUSICAL FREEDOM our pieces offer the player.
We call the tuning compositions in our drums open-harmonic. This means that anyone, regardless of prior knowledge or musical ability, can create music that sounds pleasing to the ear without a worry of playing a wrong note.
As all of our instruments are HANDCRAFTED, each board is hand-picked for visual beauty and acoustic excellence. We find that each combination of wood color and figure gives the instruments their own distinctive character, and we’ve become masters at listening for tone quality in every piece of hardwood.
By nature, all Hardwood Music instruments are one of a kind. Built from the exotic hardwoods of the world, each of our drums offer a unique ORGANIC MUSICAL VOICE. Since no two planks of wood are alike, no two drums are either.

View detailsHandcrafted in Flagstaff, Arizona using carefully selected exotic hardwoods. Comes with mallets. Dimensions 13L X 8 1/4W X 5 1/2H. The Peaks model in the key of D Major has five notes in a mid-range voice. These drums produce a warm and sweet tonal quality that is unique for their size. Many prefer to display their Peaks drums on-end when they arent playing them, so as to showcase the mountain landscape with moon rising above. -

All four sides of each drum feature aluminum panels, hand-painted in vibrant acrylics by Jerri Lisk. The chosen song wood is Honduran Rosewood, harvested over 40 years ago and selected for its prized musical character. -

The Chorded 12-Key is our most popular instrument and one of our most musically versatile. This tuning features four chords: C, F, G, and A minor, or a I — IV — V — vi chord progression in the key of C. The instrument is well-suited to be played with hands or mallets, freestyle or to the tune of a favorite song. If its songs youre after, you may know that the I — IV — V — vi chord progression is one of the most common in popular music of the last 50 or 60 years, across all genres. -
