Ruchi's vessels carry poems and light, merging joy and reflection with form and function. Her work explores the fluidity that comes with being in the moment, in a state of flow. The drawings, brushwork, or carving all start with a dot and grow on their own. Each piece is layered, unique, and fired at least thrice. Ruchi was born and raised in India. She had always been passionate about arts and crafts, but the education system, the culture, and the societal norms of a small city did not provide options to pursue a career in fine arts. She followed a math-science track of study, gaining an Engineering degree and an MBA, and worked in Business & technology for 10 years. She was introduced to clay at a rough time in life, needing a distraction and an avenue for her energy. It worked like a therapy and with it, a bond was formed. After coming to the USA and becoming a mother she finally relented to an inner voice that needed expression through creating, drawing, clay, and colors. Today she has a 1400 sq foot studio in the basement of her house, with three kilns and a studio assistant. Her work has been sold through more than 100 galleries and gift shows throughout the USA. She has designed and customized work for museums and Catalog shops like Georgia O O'Keeffe, American Folk Art Museum, ABC Carpets & Home, Un-Common Goods, and Sundance Catalog. Ruchi's journey through clay has led her to multiple explorations outside her studio. She passionately advocates for Soil Health and Climate issues. She has fondly started a Hindi Poetry club and organizes Community events to showcase her culture.
