Sea Glass Art

Sea glass art

Glenview, Illinois

I love to collect sea glass. My mom and I started collecting few pieces on Lake Michigan. Then it became an obsession:) My husband and I travel a lot and like to explore. We went to England and Spain only for sea glass, it’s the best sea glass there with most rare colors and shapes. Since I’m an artist i don’t like to keep anything I collect sitting in a jar, i want to share the beauty with people. I want the energy of the ocean and the sea to reach people through my art pieces. It takes 50 – 100 years for water to make the glass frosted and rounded, there is a lot of work” in each sea glass piece. I also love watercolors, so I decided to combine my 2 loves, my 2 passions and it gave birth to that art. Nature inspires me a lot, spring, summer flowers. My mom calls the round 3D sea glass shapes grapes” so that’s how I decided to repurpose those:) Some people call it rocks or stones, but it’s beach glass that I collected all by myself and i joke: that’s how many times I had to bend down. I love how they sparkle in the sun, the transparency and all the different colors.
