It all makes scents
After canvassing duty free shops, department stores and boutiques across three continents in search of a signature scent, I finally created one 15 years ago – SAOR. The word SAOR (Irish meaning be free) is how I felt when wearing my signature scent.
For years, I was stalked in hockey rinks, grocery stores, parking lots...by women and men asking, Do you mind me asking, what perfume are you wearing? With the continual requests to share my secret scent, I approached an international perfume company to create my fragrance and have SAOR tested for universal distribution. Securing IFRA (International Fragrance Regulatory Agency) approval, I launched SAOR in 2016.
My original fragrance, a hAon (Irish for #1), infuses fragrant bergamot, fresh white tea and airy musk creating a calm, captivating scent. My second creation, a D (Irish for #2), is a warm sensuous scent infusing neroli blossoms, ylang-ylang, cedar, and sandalwood. A fragrance for D (two): a captivating unisex fragrance.
In 2021, SAOR introduced a Tri, (Irish for #3), born out of a request from Lululemon, Ann Arbor to create a signature scent to gift their clients. SAORs sunshine in a bottle a Tri infuses notes of uplifting grapefruit, soothing ginger, and warm cedar and encapsulates the numerical definition of #3: creative self-expression, optimism, and social interaction.
Many perfumes are 80-90% water and alcohol. SAOR is purely fragrance oils infused into the highest-grade jojoba oil. Jojoba was chosen as the carrier oil as jojoba is most like skins natural oils, didnt conflict with any of my fragrances and gives the perfume oils an extended shelf life. A light application of SAOR transports you from dawn till dusk.
After six years of eCommerce sales, www.saorperfume.com , customers are now SAORing in 50 states. In 2018, I introduced SAOR into boutiques and spas. This year, I partnered with Chicago O'Hare's Duty-Free stores.
