May Xiong/May's Clay Flowers
Polymer clay and oil paints
My name is May Xiong, and I am an artist creator who wants to keep nature last forever. In 2005 I’m looking something to do for hobby and I picked up the clay and never wanted to put it down. I have used techniques I learned from friends and self-taught myself to create various clay flowers from miniature to life size for over 15 years. I enjoy working with clay and by painting the vibrant oil colors into the clay sculpture petals and leaves, it makes the objects look realistic and come alive.
I use polymer air-dry clay, oil paints and floral wires to make flowers. I hand sculpt, form and shape one petal at a time with hand sculpting tools to make the clay bloom. After drying, I paint the pieces with vibrant oil colors in realistic details and assemble the various pieces into a whole flower. The clay flower artwork is placed in a pot and on driftwood for long lasting decorations.
