When creating a hat or coat through a flat pattern technique, I first envision the shape and also the attitude of the garment — its persona — in my mind. My team then samples and perfects the construction to flatter different people’s personalities and shapes. Over my long career I have gravitated to classic fabrics and enjoy evoking nostalgia while keeping my designs both fresh and timeless. It is the skillful tailoring of my in-studio sewing team that brings the hat or coat to life with quality built into every stitch.
