Painting, New to One of a Kind
Kent Alexander, Artist
Expressive paintings of intriguing figures
My work tends to occupy a space using both representation and abstraction. I believe this allows room to keep possibilities open for these to be almost mythical journeys. My paintings are informed by intuition, experience, and reflection, with characters that we discover along the way. Their journeys grow richer with reflection.
In addition to many solo and group exhibitions since 1977, I have works in collections throughout the US and Europe, including the Karpeles Museum Collection, Santa Barbara, CA
I hold an MFA in Painting, California College of the Arts, Oakland, California and a BA in Painting, UCLA, and have taught painting and drawing at SF State University, and Diablo Valley College and Monterrey Community College.
I have been living and exhibiting in Chicagoland since 2022.
My full resume is available on request.
