Allegorical

Each work begins with a story, then breaks it apart.

Images are dismantled, their pieces released from their original meaning and reimagined into something new. Like language taken apart and rewritten, fragments shift, recombine, and form entirely different narratives.

Photography anchors the work in reality, while painted worlds open into the imagined. Between the two, a space emerges where stories are reshaped — familiar, yet transformed.

About the Artist

Kristen Gauri’s work is informed by a foundation in English Literature and an MFA focused on literary criticism. Her early exploration of language and structure expanded into digital media through a graduate assistantship in educational technology, where she began working with code.

In San Francisco, she worked at the intersection of technology and communication — as a technical writer, web developer, and eventually a technical marketing manager for an online data security company, translating complex systems into accessible narratives.

Now based in the Midwest, her practice has evolved into design and multimedia art, where she draws on her background in language, technology, and storytelling to create visually layered work.
