Anne Erlewine
Botanical paintings on baltic birch
Anne Erlewine works from her studio in Ann Arbor, Michigan where she creates abstract botanical paintings in custom frames with acrylic ink brushwork on baltic birch, leaving the wood grain revealed as part of the composition.
Anne’s formal education began at a young age under the mentorship of her grandmother who was a painting graduate from the University of Michigan. She then attended the University of Michigan where she studied art as well as intensive art classes at the Naropa Institue in Boulder, Colorado.
Anne’s art is an exploration of beauty for beauty’s sake, drawing inspiration from nature, where structure emerges through deliberate choices in composition, color and line — steering from strict representation and toward dynamic captivating movement, encouraging deeper introspection that invites a personal engagement with each work where an interplay between form and feeling creates an intimate, open dialogue both alive and immediate.
Please make a point of seeing her work in person at the One of a Kind Spring Show while she is in the Chicago area.
