Mosaic impressionism oil painting
My work centers on the theme of human and environmental connectivity. Driven by a lifelong fascination with storytelling, I draw from my travels, encounters with wildlife, and a deep sense of place to create visual narratives that bridge my experiences with those of the viewer. When someone connects with a painting, it is because our individual stories have found a common ground.
I describe my technique as “Mosaic Impressionism,” characterized by short, repetitive brushstrokes that build energy and movement across the canvas. Each piece begins traditionally with a monochromatic underpainting — often in bold red, blue, or green — to establish the underlying emotional mood.
This process allows the painting to function on two levels. From afar, the short strokes disappear into a cohesive, vibrant image. Up close, each square inch reveals its own distinct life, inviting the viewer to appreciate the raw energy of the process.
