Gloria Lewis Handpainted Silks

  • Booth 3115
With an art background I came to United States from Colombia, South America 1973 . I began experimenting with various forms of art. Then over 30 years ago I discovered Silk Painting and immediately became my passion. My line consists of jackets, wraps, scarves and flowing wearables. Starting with white silk or velvet, I hand-paint each piece using a combination of different methods. Watercolor, shibori, dye manipulation, discharge are some of the techniques I use. After the silk is dry and the color has been steam set for four hours I design and sketch the style and then it is sewn to create the final piece of wearable art. I have been marketing my line through Art Shows all over the country. I have received several awards in the Textile and Wearables categories. It is very exiting transforming white silk/velvet into a beautiful and colorful wearable art piece. I am always challenging myself with new techniques and types of silk..I just love what I do.
