I have always loved the intersection of science & art! I went to school to become a medical illustrator & currently work at Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago in Pediatric Urology. I started taking classes in metalsmithing as just a hobby, but it didn't take long for my two worlds to collide in the best of ways! In 2013 someone very close to me underwent 2 open heart surgeries to repair & eventually replace his mitral valve. During this time I connected with patients & caregivers through my art and was the artist-in-residence for the Stanford Medicine X conference in California in 2014. Today I run my own business called Anatomical Element. I have a unique style that blends my background in medical illustration with jewelry, sculpture & accessories. Since health & wellness is in the forefront of the public conscience, I'm using my work to educate & invoke awareness in today's anatomical art movement. I create anatomically-correct items to give a visual voice to invisible illness & to start conversations.
