One of a Kind:  What are you bringing to the Spring Show?

Kate:  Chocolate Twist always brings the fun!  This year we'll be Twisting our caramels in so many flavors (Burnt Toast Caramels anyone?).  We'll have candy bars with intrigue (Rosewater Cardamom Espresso is just one flavor) and the biggest, tastiest Saigon Cinnamon Peanut Butter Cup you've ever tried.  We promise to delight!

One of a Kind:  How did you get started?

Kate:  As a child I was captivated by my grandmothers' ability to cook and bake seemingly effortlessly.  Nana Coffey was famous for her homemade bread, cookies and biscuits.  Nonni Bruno could put up a pot of pasta gravy faster than anyone.  Both my grandmothers would carry on conversation, laugh with family, enjoy a little wine and never break a sweat.  I was hooked--and hungry!  I received my Baking and Pastry Certificate from Kendall College and after several years in the food and non-profit sector, decided to  listen to my heart and start Chocolate Twist.

One of a Kind:  What inspires your work?

Kate:  I'm inspired by the everyday food we eat.  Burnt Toast Caramels, for example, happened by accident when we burnt toast beyond recognition and decided the nutty flavor of the burnt toast would be perfect with the buttery flavor of our Epic Sea Salt Caramel.

One of a Kind:  What makes you happy?

Kate:  Simple pleasures.  Mostly matching socks, clean sheets, pre-cooked lentils, the right shade of red lipstick.  And my children--most of the time.

One of a Kind:  What makes you mad?

Kate:  Zealots. Blister packaging. Unkindness.
