Kate Tremel is has been working in clay for nearly 30 years. In her current work she employs a paddle and anvil technique learned as a student in Peru, to slowly raise the forms. "I have always liked the connection to the history of makers that ceramics affords. My fascination with forms in nature and the everyday pot provides the inspiration for a quiet meditation on the tenuousness of beauty. " She holds an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art and is a Lecturer at the University of Michigan.
