Get to Know... Scott Yocco

03 . 07 . 2016

Wisconsin firefighter and carpenter by trade Scott Yocco creates stunning custom glass top copper tables.

One of a Kind:  Describe your work.

Scott:  I have a method of extruding 1.5' copper pipe that presents an entire new design element in table construction.  The glass top, copper frame tables exhibit exotic angles that are totally unique and original.  The outer frames are acid treated to bring out many natural patinas while the inner portions are polished to demonstrate the wonderful luster that copper provides.

One of a Kind:  How did you get started?

Scott:  As a carpenter I've always been intrigued with aggressive angles and producing original designs.  Working in copper is an entirely new and challenging medium.

One of a Kind:  What inspires you/your work?

Scott:  I was born and raised in Racine, WI--home of Frank Lloyd Wright's Johnson Wax Building, Wingspread House, and Prairie School to name a few.  I believe his designs and architecture are unparalleled and I've immensely enjoy every one of them.

One of a Kind:  What makes you happy?

Scott:  Reading the bible.

One of a Kind:  What makes you mad?

Scott:  Slow drivers.

One of a Kind:  Who is your favorite person/creature?

Scott:  My four grandchildren--with two more on the way!
