Coffee with Chelli Look

11 . 07 . 2016

We had a great time visiting Chelli Look of CHC in her Northside studio. Chelli is a self-taught designer and the artist behind CHC, a collection of fine leather bags with a downtown edge. She told us she started crafting leather bags in high school on her mom's old Singer and, within months, was making bags for friends, family and teachers. As her skills and passion developed, CHC was born.

Conscious consumerism is important in everything Chelli creates as she is a big believer in having fewer, better quality, timeless pieces. Seeing her gorgeous work first hand--we couldn't agree more!

After sourcing vegetable tanned leather domestically, Chelli cuts and assembles each piece by hand in her studio.

Here is she is showing us how she crafts her signature salt & pepper cowhide clutches.  (Chelli said she will be bringing her unisex Dawn collection to the Show as well as the salt & pepper and gold cowhide collection that sold out at last year!)

Seven days a week, as a handbag designer, I am able to design, produce and deliver a quality-made product to my customers. One of those days each week, I get to also contribute time to an organization that works tirelessly to empower the lives of people victimized by violence.

Chelli donates ten percent of profits to WINGS; an organization providing services to end domestic violence & homelessness. Beautiful bags by a talented designer for an important cause--love it!
